Shit's dope. Dig the scratches. That weird synth thing is my fav part

Sorry for your loss, man.

I love the way the reverb in the intro melts away and gets bone dry for the verse.

The extra riffs during the chorus sound really cool.

Dug the guitar solo.

Really liked the ending.

This drum pattern is amazing.

Intro sounds like dogs barking. A tad strange. Sample or synth?

0:27 is great. Lots of great sequences and arpeggios.

The chorus part with the french horn/bassoon and the other synths in the back sounds really lush.

1:19 is great. Dig that synth by itself. Sounds cavernous.

1:57 is nuts. The piano that comes in hits some rhythmic spots that aren't hit by the other instruments, and it sounds really surprising.

Throughout I hear this cool noise that sounds like a coin falling out of a couch. It works really well. I think maybe it could be a tad lower in volume, and repeated half as often so it doesn't draw as much attention to itself, but it does sound reeeeeeally cool.

Snare is a tad dry, reverb-wise. Otherwise, I seriously dig this beat.

Thanks phospho! You're always complimenting me drums. I get the hint ;)

It's a sample tuned at the "dogs barking" portion. A yelp sample I think, twisted by FX.

The arpeggios are goooooood I agree and I dunno how to replicate them but I'll have to study this accident further

1:57 is pretty nuts, I agree... I was wondering if it was a little too overbearing but glad to hear you enjoy it.

Gotcha about the coin. I'll be sure to look at that ailment.

Thanks for the pros'n'cons. Thanks for srsly digging beat. Thanks for everythin. <3

I dig that chopped up james bond guitar. The bassline is super jazzy. Snare's perfect. Sample reminds me of Grant Green (dem vibes). Good shit, man

B-RadGfromOV responds:

glad you like it

I love those drums. Wu-Tang as fuck. Would've been cool to hear the vocal sample chopped up or something, but it looping around works. I dig it

This could've used more of those Dilla vocal scratch things. I don't really know how to do that without a turntable, but you could probably do some goofy automation shit in FL with the scratcher. I tried it once with a MIDI controller and it was kinda wonky, but there's potential

1:07 was a sick moment. That laugh was so off-kilter

The bass and drums are ill as fuck.

BOULLIE responds:

Yeah I was worried the laughs might get stale. Maybe they do still.
I haven't done any scratching in years. I'm not usually comfortable scratching with anything else but vinyl, although, I still don't have a crossfader for my turntable.. I should look into that.

Laugh is Mark Hamill

Got this huge Boards of Canada, Silent Hill 2 vibe from it. Keyboards are sick as hell. The french horns that come in later are really cool, especially when they drop out suddenly so that keyboard chop goes right back in.

Is that female vocals in there somewhere? Either that, or some cool synth preset with the volume down way low.

Vinyl noise is a real nice touch.

BOULLIE responds:

Nah there're no vocals. That's not a bad idea though... I may know someone who's interested.
Would love to find an emcee for this one

Really liked the sample. It would've been cool if there was like a intense/chill switchup between the chorus and the verse, where maybe during the verse, the sample was playing, but you put a low-pass on it or something. (oh nevermind, just got to the part at 1:06 where the extra strings came in. This works really well too)

The drum pattern was sweet. This track was cool.

kingkez responds:

Thanks man I appreciate that

That piano is swagged out. The rapping kinda reminds me of Leftfield's Dusted -- this style ain't free, this style's expensiiiiiiiive

I dig this beat. I like the vocal falsetto ooh ooh OOH too

xxxZigZagxxx responds:

Thanks for the reference, bro. I hadn't heard of "Dusted" until now, and it's an apt reference. Those are my friend Nate's vocals on rap. I have a full version of this that I should probably upload, that includes my references. :P

I think I'll do that now actually. It's hilarious. Mostly him though.

:)

The ending is nuts. Is that the tape machine again, playing with the piano? Start and stopping?

The intro was cool as hell too. Dem vocals.

Drums got that Bouille vibe going on. Really liked this track

fearing responds:

Thanks man! The whole thing is samples. I sampled james blake - meet you in the maze for the vocals and blurry vocal swell pads and Radiohead - daydreaming for that bendy piano business. Just cut them up rhythmically and messed with the pitch and effects etc.

I do music because I'm bored.
