0:28 sounds nice, love the keys, it's a really nice chord progression too

wish the drums had a bit more oomph

there's a reversed hat in the drum pattern which sounds kinda weird. not sure why

ends kinda abruptly. Is this a sketch that you're gonna flesh out later?

xxxZigZagxxx responds:

Thanks phosphorus. This is something I just created randomly. It is a bit weird and sketchy and I don't think I'll return to it anytime soon. Not to say I might not return to it later. :)

I dug the singing. It fit in really well.

Liked the verse a lot. Liked the mix of long and short phrases to mix it up. Lots of cool vowel sounds.

Like a storybook made into a rap song or something.

Beat was dope. That snare really popped. Cool shit mayne!

B-RadGfromOV responds:

:D!

This is sooooo flylo oh my gawd.

That stuttery guitar chop is dope.

Bassline makes my nuts hard.

Kinda wish the snare was a little beefier

Those female vocals are killer

Groovy shit

BOULLIE responds:

Aaw you really think so? You're right on the snare though.... Very right.. Noted for next time!

This is dope. Was the guitar me? I don't remember playing this.

If not, groovy source. Or sample. Whatever it is! I like it

B-RadGfromOV responds:

hehe nope, it's actually a harp sample with the pitch lowered to sound guitarish! I do want more guitar from you though ;)

At 0:12, is that a really short delay on that instrument? It almost sounded like reverb, but I heard the definite little mini-echoes in there and thought, hmmmm that's ill.

0:23's little ice cream man synth sounds baaadass

The drum rhythm sounds really cool, it's kinda sparse but the heavy snare makes it work

lol 0:49 of course you were gonna go all zigzag on me. Reminds me of that clanky drum part from Daedelus' Sundown

Grooooovy track, man

xxxZigZagxxx responds:

0:12 It's the "reverb" setting on Sylenth1 being automated, but if you play around with the "Diffusion", I believe, it will sound like lots of mini echoes.

0:23 Thanks bro. :)

The snare is probably one of my few snares that I've used that I actually like the use of xD I'm not necessarily the best at using snares. Or kicks, for that matter.

0:49 haha, you know it. I'm not a big fan of transitions obviously. thanks bro. I love Daedelus and that track is definitely crazy and cool. My main influences for this track, if you'd like to know, where Lindsay Lowend's Lido "Money" Remix, Maxo and Jonathan's "Nice Feelings", and a little bit of a guy named Guy Akimoto's "What's It For". A little less prestigious than the great Daedelus, although I hope to channel that some day ;)

Cheers,
ZigZag

That bass is dope

Whole thing is sex

you and them filter sweeps, man

them drums too

oof

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Oof!

That snare has a sick pop to it -- love it!

Chops sound tight.

Really smoky vibe. Like a cartoon where the teenagers are up to no good, about to vandalize something...

B-RadGfromOV responds:

thanks phos. stay tuned for more vandalism

My favorite element is the synth with that sliding portamento thing going on. It sounds so cool.

Really colorful.

dat bass at 1:00

I like the huge number of drum samples you got going on. I get kinda lazy with just a kick, snare and hat. Maybe I should mix it up once in a while.

Really cooooool track, enjoyed it a lot

xxxZigZagxxx responds:

Thanks, mate. My best friend said he agreed with every point you made when he listened to it. He said one of the things he learned from me is to use a large array of drum sounds. Although sometimes I need to cool down on using so many samples at once... I get too addicted, haha. Thanks for your complimentary comments. I appreciate it, man.

That part at 2:54 was crazy. That piano was killer. It's probably from that sound library you were telling me about earlier.

YOOO I bought a 4-track for recording cassettes. Still waiting for it to come in the mail. I'm gonna do a lot of bouncing with it, heehee.

fearing responds:

Cheeers dude! I remembered what you said about one of my older tracks, wishing it had some crazy solo on the outro, so that's what I did here haha. That piano sound is from a synth called Piano One, crazy good sound for a synth, fair play.

Sweeet man! it adds crazy amounts of layering opportunities and depth when you bounce shit back and forth to cassette. Looking forward to hearing what you do with it dude.

Love the sub bass. Drums sound cool. I like the pattern where it does that fake out thing where you think it's gonna be just snare but like 2 milliseconds later the kick comes in and my headnodding gets all thrown off, lol.

The synth thing at 0:47 -- I wish it was panned or something. At that point in the beat, it sounds like just about everything going on is dead center, and it would've been cool as hell if that one instrument was going crazy to contrast. Maybe if it had a slow phaser on it, or flanger or something.

That said, dig this track. Dig the chilly vibes. It sounds like a dude walking out of the arcade in New York in like January, or whenever it's cold as fuck up there.

BOULLIE responds:

Yeeeeah I see what you mean! I'll make it a point to work the space more next time

I do music because I'm bored.
