Like mrray06 said, catchy tune - nice work. The only thing that bugged me was the EQ on the vocal harmonies. When the lead was singing by himself, it sounded fine. But when several voices sang at once, I think there was a bit of frequency overload somewhere in the 2-4 kHz range. I'd check that out. Otherwise, the band sounded great. Arrangements were simple and kept focus on the tune. Nice work.

I like the eerieness of the background synth. The bass' buzz is really cool too. Then I found out it was a song with vocals, and I was like DAMN. Really sounds like David Sylvian, or that Robert Downey Jr album without all the crazy crooning. And I admire the drum programming. Reminds me of Nine Inch Nails from back in the day. It's cool - there's this mix of 80s pop and 70s art rock and Steely Dan vocal harmonies and all this shit. Cool, man.

thanks

Somewhere, around 2:14, is that a choir? Or an old lady singing? That shit sounded cool. I liked the guitar in there, too. And the mixing/EQing is top notch. The glitchy stuff at 3:40 ish really caught me off guard. At the end, when a brand new drum beat comes in (it goes until the end of the song), is there any reason the kick drum was panned to the right? Maybe it wasn't, maybe it's just my speakers are fucking with my head or something, but that was the only weird thing I noticed. Good work, man.

Really cool. The samples have great, dusty texture, despite being sampled from... mp3s? My favorite thing about the track is the drums, especially when the drum pattern does a reverse snare and comes back. It sounds so darn cool. I also noticed you used the 90s hip hop boombap kind of bassline, which was a nice touch. Excellent work all around!

JackRocker responds:

Yeahh, unfortunately, the sample was an MP3. If I could get wavs, that would be awesome, but I guess I'll have to settle, haha. If you look to the left of the screen, you'll see a link to the song I sampled.

I really liked the drums as well. I thought the drum sample fit the old school feel well. The bassline was also sampled from the same song, I just did a lot of EQ'ing to get it to stand out more. I may have run it through a bass amp simulator too, but I don't remember.

Glad you liked it man! Check out some of my others! And thanks a lot for the review.

Beat's ridiculous. The samples are bloody awesome. Nice rapping, too.

thank u very much! means a lot!

I've never heard strings like that in my life. Are they synthesized? Samples? I've no idea, but they're really impressive. I'm not entirely sure if the super-portamento heavy high-pitched g-funk synth fit in with the strings. And like ReklessCreati0n said, different drum samples would've really brought this over the top. But otherwise, impressive work. Impressive melodies. Impressive arrangements. Interesting music!

Reminds me of Gravediggaz, that Prince Paul side project? Really impressive work, my man.

I have a feeling this would fit better in the classical category than jazz. Just judging by the harmonies you used. Oh, and excellent guitar playing. I'm impressed!

You owe me a spatula or something, so I can scrape my jaw off the floor. Really. This song surprised the shit out of me. It started out gentle, but you kept layering instruments, and your voice gradually became more and more intense. Impressive work all around. And great mixing, too! It's evident that the tracks were recorded very well.

I don't speak Russian, so later on I'll have to grab my brother to translate these lyrics. But the beat is superb, my friend - sounds like something MF Doom would have on his Special Herbs and Spices albums.

I do music because I'm bored.
