I dig it! Reminds me of Super Meat Boy. Especially the very verbose melody, and the buzzy/fuzzy bassline. The drumbreak at the end was an interesting choice.

TheMightyApple responds:

Thank you ^^
Glad you like it :D

It's definitely spooky! The part at 0:56 came out of nowhere. That would freak me out if I was playing the game.

How'd you get some of these sounds going? Are they heavily processed samples, or synth patches, etc? I was thinking about trying to make this type of music but I didn't really know where to start.

HeAvEn-SmiLE responds:

Hi, long time no see!

Thanks for the review, I indeed used some Heavily processed samples as I used a lot of audio effects to make it work, such as Filter delay, Grain Filter to get those sounds an obnoxious feeling, For the rumble It was easy, just create a nice fx, take the grain filter, and turn the pitch along with the Frequency to a low value. I used a lot of Eric Piersing samples, such as Bizarre guitare and Distorted reality too.

Dig the bass. The chord things at 1:36 sound great. The pingy arpeggio thing sounds cool. The big crash thing is a touch loud; otherwise, I dig this track.

PompYin responds:

Thanks for the feedback man, It's much appreciated.

Fucking dope. Reminds me of one of those really chill rap songs from one of the Tony Hawk games. I could totally kickflip to this.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Yeeah booyyy. Guess it might fit in Underground (favorite by far) haha

Thanks for the listen!

This is cool. It's like Hawaiian Aphex Twin. I really dig how the guitar sounds in there, especially when you layer the strumming on top. The drums at 1:52 sound really cool.

Was this played live? The noise on top of the piano sounds cool. Almost has this gentle jazz brush drum sound to it. Was there any overdubbing with the piano, or was everything piano recorded in one take?

The string sounded great. The string, chimes and piano in tandem were my favorite part. I was hoping for some more chords in the piece, like a bridge section or something.

Generally, it sounded pretty cool. I dug it.

HeAvEn-SmiLE responds:

Thanks for reviewing my musics!

Well, Paradise of Lies isn't finished yet, there is a lot more to it, two more sections, a more dynamic one with strings, and another one more "soloish"

Plus the strings and chimes were some kind of test session, Paradise of Lies isn't over yet, as I'm going to study the perception of the sounds, and add more strings to it.

Thanks again for the review, Appreciated!

By the Way, It was not recorded live, I'm using Cinesamples Piano in Blue, but I can record my violin with a BOSS BR80. :)

This was cool. The bongoes kinda reminded me of Crash Bandicoot a bit, but when that string thing came in, that was soooo dusty. Like 90s Shadow, or Gang Starr Above the Clouds kind of shit. That string thing was nuts.

During the ending, when the cool panning thing is going on with the bongoes, there's this -- I don't know the word for it -- 'clipping?' thing going on, where you can hear little pops because the hits have no attack going on. Like, they're on and suddenly they're off. If you put slight fade-ins and fade-outs on those drum hits, it would go a lot smoother.

The drums sounded pretty cool.

Flute was cool too.

That bass slide-in thing at 1:45 sounded really cool.

The No Quarter flangy keyboard thing sounds dope.

Really enjoyed the drop.

I think the whole mix could've used a bit more bass. I wasn't picking up much low range stuff going on, even when the beat came in. Maybe it's my headphones.

Shit was cool though. My head was noddin'.

Poniiboi responds:

I'm pretty much in love with you.

Bass didn't sound too wonky to me. Like B-RadGfromOV said, it's got some hiss to it, but I don't really give a shit as long as 1) it's the only thing trying to be the bass, and 2) it's stereo centered. Hits both 1 and 2. I mean, it doesn't have to be stereo centered but I think panned bass tends to sound kinda gross.

I didn't know congestion could fuck with how someone hears things. You use headphones when you mix, right?

That flutter tremolo shit at 2:01 was cool.

Drums sounded dope. Now that you got me obsessing over EQ, I think the snare might have some gross 2k shit going on that could be cut a bit. All snares in the history of ever got that shit going on, though. I cut it and I don't even it makes a difference. Certainly doesn't get me any more honeys, but whatever.

I dug the madlib start-and-stops on the sample where the drums would keep going but the sample stops.

Cool mood going on with the track. Very noir-y. Shit sounds like a depressed Flying Lotus. You got the la noire trumpet shit, the jazz feel, the super compressed funky drum pattern, the stones throw start-and-stops, all you need is doom rapping on there about 'dude in a tin foil hat, cool as a miracle whip, lash, eyelashes, pay no attention in classes, all about fat asses and molasses, captain steppin' in and out of the cabin, bitin' into crab apples like charlie sea hustle, like tom green he about them mussels' whatever the fuck he raps about

BOULLIE responds:

Yeah man. When the allergies get goin my hearing gets foggy, good lookin out phos

That lo-fi software you sent me is my new favorite plug btw

Sounds cool. Who's doing the singing? You? Sounds good. Heavily processed, lots of reverb, plus whatever voice file/pad thing you used for the chords sounds interesting.

The weird ping thing at 0:43 sounds really cool.

I don't know the word for what's going when the really low pitch vocal sample comes in, but it's like it echoes/reverbs out and the reverb pans in a really jagged way which sounds kinda weird on headphones. Kinda like my head is shaking. It also sounds kinda distorted. I dunno. Just sounds kinda odd.

Everything else is dope. Drums sound great. Chords sound great.

xxxZigZagxxx responds:

Thanks man. I'm not doing the singing (I'm not that good). I just sampled something else.

At 0:43 that's an 808 cowbell. I just love that too much. I'm using it too often recently xD

About that really weird pitching vocal thing... I don't have any headphones to mix with, I'm generally using speakers and cheap earphones (i switch between the two) so that's probably why some panning issues might exist. I'll try to figure out why that happened.

Thanks. You da real MVP person. :)

Blessings! Merry Christmas too!

I do music because I'm bored.
