My good headphones broke so I'm a bit hamstrung assessing the mix -- sounds good on 20 dollar Sony headphones -- but I dig the arrangement of sounds you got going here. I like the crash. Really like the piano. Like the touch of reverb on the clap.

I think the beat might be a little too busy for the bongoes to fit in nicely. Is the kick sidechaining them at all? That was the only thing I was iffy about here. Everything else I dig.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Yeah I def didn't freak the bongoes like I should have. I just pushed it out cause it started going downhill

I like how that track turned out! I think if you were gonna let the beat ride at the end like that, you could've added some adlibs or something.

Did you add any reverb on your voice at all? I wasn't hearing much, which matches the beat pretty well. I remember the snare in that beat was super dry.

Either way, good stuff.

Mannnn there was supposed to be a second verse from the homie....I eventually said fuck and decided to let the original play solo. I really like it, man. Lol

This is weird. I like weird. Major Peggy vibes from this. I looooove the water drop as the snare effect. I think you could've kept stacking more weird noises on top, and made the track a bit more unsettling. I like the owl hoo-ing part in there, too.

Dig the grumpy grittyness of the bass. I like how the vocal sample gets cut off real abruptly with no reverb or anything like that. Nice chops happening here. I wish the snare had just a bit more meat to it, because the kick seems to overpower it a tad. Whole thing loops real nicely. Nice work, man!

Really dig it! I like the bassline a lot. I dig the jittery hats, can't tell if there's weird panning stuff going on with them or if you're just playing with the velocities on them. Wish the snare had a little more tail on it, this one punches in and out really quickly. The strings that come in around 30 seconds sound great.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

I was hopin the bassline was decent.

The hats were just chopped kinda swingy then smushed with the kick, sidechained along with the other samples

Thanks for the listen

That you playing the guitar that comes in at 0:35? That riff sounds siiiick.

The rhythm guitar playing throughout also sounds lovely.

Dig the kick. Dig the miscellaneous percussion. I'm iffy about the snare. Everything else in the beat fits into that spanish flamenco street band vibe really well, but the snare sounds like it came from a totally different place. It's really crisp.

At 0:55 and 1:12 what's that staccato thing trying to come in? I thought it was a flute. That was a nice touch.

Nice work, man.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Yep that's me. Just soloed over the beat til I worked out a riff to record and did some improvising.

The flute thing was from a background tom/bass sample and it was lucky to play the flute that way.
Thanks bro.

Love the second beat. That clap is perfect. Dig the way the bass goes on a little noodle riff when the harp(?) drops out for a bit.

First beat - I like that crescendo of voices that comes in every 4 bars or so. Lively drum pattern, too. I like the rapid wiggle panning on that trumpet.

Love the dirty bassline - probably my favorite part of this track. Dig the snare. Hats are a touch loud. I think the kick goes in and out a little too quickly and gets lost in the mix. A bigger, beefier kick with more of a tail might work better. That mellotron string is super creepy. Overall, this track's pretty cool.

Happy birthday, m8! Dig this beat. What track of it was mine you sampled? I can't pick it out.

Where'd the bass come from? Was that from you, or did you pitch down my guitar? It sounds really cool.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Thanks :D

It's the "70's rock riff sorta Bb" that you sent me. I just recently found it, as I haven't had notifications on email.

I added a little bump of bass at the beginning of every other bar, but otherwise, the meat of the bassline is from your recording (actually pitched up some) though I did bring it out a bit.

I dig the live guitar through this. You got a nice tone. I think it's live guitar? It might be chopped up. I can't really tell.

The 1:22 chiptune stuff sounds really good.

That kick that comes in at 0:49 -- why not use that through the whole song? The beat starts off with a sorta weak kick that has a hard time sticking out in the mix, and I think the beefier kick might work better.

Overall I dig this track.

Apilot responds:

Beefier may be better. I was going for like "gif" progression idk. I will def boost the kick and see if its better. The guitar is heavily altered ukulele!

I do music because I'm bored.
