This is nifty. Could use some structure though. I have a feeling you did this just to mess around, but this could actually be pretty cool. Like, I dunno, you could have a music video of singing TVs or something, all singing the blues, and you have white noise coming out of them, or whatever. All I'm saying is, don't let the guy below me discourage you.

Urobach responds:

Well, it was made a bit out of boredom. I like the idea with the video, and I would consider it, but I'm no good with flash technology or movie making. I'm just a guy with a computer and sick mind. ;)

And come on. Who would get discouraged by someone who can't even type? :D

Synthwise, I love what's going on. I think the hats and crashes could be a little softer. The hat has this almost mechanical feel to it that ever so slightly pulls me out of the song. Something a little more organic? I dunno. But like I said, the synths sound bloody awesome. My fav part was when the synths were by themselves at 1:56. Really lovely.

Whole thing reminds me of Sufjan Stevens. Guitar sounds really cool - has this percussive quality to it. The mix didn't strike me as particularly dirty, but maybe my ears just suck. I didn't really notice the white noise until I read your comments about it. 1:58 had sick fucking harmonies. You have a nice voice. Nicely done.

Thanks so much for the praise :D The "dirtiness"of the track comes from a lot of bleeding from one track to another by which i mean that when i would record a new track i let what was already recorded be picked up by the mics. The result was some extra resonance which you can hear if you listen close and the white nose which you picked up on, but i suppose it might not have had such a noticeable impact as i thought haha. Again, thanks so much for the review :)

Addiction's a monster. Hope you feel better.
Quick question: is the kick panned to the left? Normally, standard practice is to keep the bass and kick center - it makes listening on headphones less painful. Otherwise, the beat was well done. I liked the strings, really liked the piano. Honest lyrics. Well done.

Brilliant. Shit's mixed perfectly. The horns and bass and drums and everything coalesce into this perfect entity. I can't think of anything bad to say about it. Strings are fucking dope, btw, they remind me of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Frank Sinatra.

Everything except the drums sounds perfect to me. The drums sound good, but I'm not sure if they should be pushed way back in the mix like they are now or if they should be more prominent. That's your call. Right now, the beat sounds more like ambient/film score type stuff than hip hop. I'd think that if a rapper was trying to rap on this, they'd want the beat to stick out a bit more so they'd know where their syllables were going, but I don't know. Sometimes, they go for the left field minimalism thing. I just think, if you're gonna go in that direction (ambient, soft drums) then you might want to switch out the current drum loop for something more chill, soft and less bassey. Because right now I can't tell if I'm supposed to think the drums are sticking out or not.

I love the way the bass sometimes curls up to the clap. It has this cool triplet/sixteenth note effect to it. The chords from the synths are excellent, too. Really glad I stumbled on you. If you're interested, a lot of my stuff is kinda similar to yours, so if you want to listen to it, feel free.

Thank you I will certainly listen to your stuff!

I'm ecstatic over the beat. Reminds me of Daedelus. The beat's so off-kilter, the way it starts and stops, and has these wacky instruments. I seriously dig it. I think you have so many instruments that they tend to occupy each other's frequency ranges, so you got some overlap (I think this because the way the kick and bass interact seems kinda weird. I can't put my finger on it. The drum loop is good, but the way it sounds is kinda odd. Maybe too much bass? I've no idea.)
Breakdown at 2:01 was excellent.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Yes, you touched on the tricky parts of this beat. the drum sample was really hard to work with. I almost scrapped this beat cause of it. and leveling everything was a bitch. BUT, I have worked on this beat since I posted it here. It's sounding a lot better, but that's for the lyrical version ;)

I heard an organ, I think? It sounded real good. The horns sound good. I like the periodic swashes of choir/vocal/samples that pop in at the tail end of every couple bars. The drum loop is choice; however, I think it might be compressed a bit too much. The kick and snare don't really stick out over the hi hats, which only kinda bugs me. Otherwise, beat's a solid piece of work.

I DIG the filter thing on the vocals - reminds me of the punk rock scene from Dewey Cox. Guitar solo sounded cool as hell. Chord progression/riff sounded like Elvis Costello's Pump it Up, with the chromatic movements and whatnot. Drums sounded really good, actually. The abrupt ending was a nice touch. I was really surprised by this. Nice work.

I do music because I'm bored.
