Lil bit of ice cream on the side.
Siiiiiiick. Love the bassline. The cool delay/sped-up high hat pattern/whatever it is in the middle of the track sounded really cool.
You got a real cool texture out of just that vocal sample alone. I heard the guitar make a brief appearance, but it wasn't sticking out that much. Pretty subtle. Having someone rap on this would probably be the cake on the icing.
Hey man i'm glad you like it. I had to grab on to a hook and stick with it, I tried to work with the guitar more but i'm not that good yet lol. A rap would be amazing.
This is one hell of a flip, man. Did you take the acapella part and turn it down a few semitones? It sounds soooo clams. I wonder where the high pitched xylophone sounding thing came from. Is that the guitar cranked up a few octaves? I have no idea where the bassline came from. I don't remember leaving it exposed in my track, unless you did something tricky with the EQ or whatever. Shit's great, though. Really enjoyed it.
Yes your vocals and guitar were tuned down, just used a few licks from here and there. the first sound, xylophone thing, and harp were other secret samples. The bassline was me, with a vst instrument.
thanks for listening and for the material!
Really really like that snare. The smooth guitar contrasts really well with the heavy drums. Hat pattern is also pretty cool. I dig it.
Thank you - VashELite
I love the bassline. This beat is so Dilla, all it would need to go on Donuts is some turntable scratching a "let's go" vocal sample and a Mantronix King of the Beats siren
Super head nodder
Thank you! and thank the sample, for providing the baseline for the bassline.
The drums fit really well with the chops. Interesting harmonies going on. It's got a chill yet sorta tense mood to it.
I just wish the bassline stuck out a little more.
Trippy track!
Thanks. Yes I could have done more with the bassline you're right.
I really really like this beat. The samples mesh really well. I only wish the snare had a bit more pop to it. The piano sounds amaaaaazing. Horns fit real well. Drum pattern's solid. Gooood shit, man
Preesh bra, glad you like it. I did have trouble with the snare.
The pitch-bending on the synth in the 2nd half of the track sounds awesome, really striking.
I dig the sound of the synth in general.
The drum pattern has this cool POP noise (like a crack or snare with a ton of reverb, panned to the left a bit) that sounds awesome.
Normally when I mention reverb in my reviews of your beats, I tend to say you sometimes use a tad too much reverb, but here I think it's the opposite. That snare could really use just a smidge more. It sounds very dry, and the beat is a little more minimal than other beats I heard from you, so I think putting some reverb on there would help the drums take up a bit more space in the mix.
Or add more crazy synths. Go full James Murphy in there, man!
I diiiiig this track though. Sounds realllllly cool!
It's true. I've been so tame lately because I want to get the mixing right. I forget about the rawness of the song. i seem to flit between using too much reverb and using none at all. Hopefully I'll find that middle ground.
Thanks for your words. I need to go full James Murphy on my beats. That's the kind of influence i need :)
Cheers phospho
at 0:25 I was like OHHHHHHHHH SHIT
those drums
thx bruvvvv ^_^
Daaaaamn. As far as RTJ goes, you got the drum programming and choice of drum sounds down PAT. Sounds just like 'em.
For the rest, I wouldn't know how you'd approximate that apocalyptic El-P vibe. He has oodles of synths, which results in really sharp, colorful sounds that contrast with each other in really cool ways. Here, the beat was kinda stripped down to a minimalistic 'what can I do with this vocal sample' which is cool. You got quite a bit of mileage out of it. I'd maybe add some more stuff in there. Crazy melodies and whatnot. Loud high pitched g-funk synth whines, distorted bass, maybe some adlibs or one-off samples or something, idk...
But yeah, great work with this track man!
Thanks phospho ^_^ sorry i didn't reply soon enough. needs some melodies sure, and extra bits :)
thanks bro
